Menu

Local, homemade and delicious; these are the foundations of our cuisine. Home-made food, locally grown ingredients and rich culinary skills enable us to prepare delicious and sophisticated food. Our cuisine offer is very diverse: we offer typical food locally known as Okusi loškega podeželja (Tastes of Loka Countryside)*, we serve medieval food** prepared in a modern way, but we are most known for our à la carte' as our chefs know how to prepare every single dish our guests could desire; fish, lamb, poultry and other meat and venison. We also serve pizzas and delicious desserts, of which the most famous is the homemade gibanica (layered cake).

* 'Okusi loškega podeželja' si a project, which aims to preserve the recipes of our grandmothers, all from the ingredients to the plate. This way, we are promoting the preservation and revitalisation of small local economy, our guests can taste food that is typical for our area and the ingredients are produced locally.

** Škofja Loka as the best preserved medieval town in Slovenia is famous not only for its rich history, but also has a rich culinary legacy of our ancestors. Medieval cuisine is based mainly on grain and flour-based dishes, but today they are prepared in a modern way.

*** Škofja Loka is the town of Passion Play. In 1721, Father Romuald wrote the oldest preserved dramatic text in Slovenian language named Škofjeloški pasijon (The Passion of Škofja Loka). Before Easter every few years, the streets of Škofja Loka are alive with the images of the passion play. Because of this, we have prepared a Passion menu, which is based on fasting dishes.
